I did the Oakland Fader podcast with DJ Platurn a couple of years ago, Matthew Africa’s show was always right after us. One evening after the Fader show, Matthew pulled me to the side to holla. He was like “you should work with this group that my friend manages”. He had a way of really making you feel like something was important when he spoke to you. Matthew broke it down, “you (being me) know how to work these young cats and still keep it old school. These cats are new, but I think you can add to what they’re doing”. I had heard of the group through my crew already, but Matthew took it upon himself to do the whole email introduction to the groups manager. Since then, we connected, I recorded and mixed their first official album and produced numerous songs with the group. The group was Main Attrakionz and this is their first video off of their 2nd album (Bossilini & Fooliyones, out Oct 22) that I mixed (and produced on). Shout out to Matthew Africa for having the vision and connecting me with these fresh cats. Go A’s.
