PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!!
Oakland Faders – Flea Market Treats.Platurn and I did this mix back in Summer of 2001. It was burned to CD then pressed to tape. I remember paying close to $2 per tape! There’s a funny story behind the guy who did the duplication. Our cheapest resource at the time was a company in Texas. The turn around was usually very fast. Less then 5 days. When I sent the tape in for duplication 5 days had past and no tapes had arrived yet. The next day I got a call from the owner of the company,In his southern accent he says to me…. ” Parker, you seem like a very nice guy. We talk on the phone your courteous and respectful. I listened to your tape, and 15 mins into it I must have heard the F word repeatedly about 100 times.Being the Christian man that I am, I could not duplicate your tapes,so I passed the job on to a person in town who was willing to take the job, I made no money on this and if I did I would have felt like I was committing sin.” I think $2 a tape is a sin but to each is own. So get ready for a fun pack adventure with underground hip hop, soul, breaks, and a crazy jewish girl who suffers chronic p.m.s. trust me, it will all make sense in the end.

A little video edit I did of the funkiest version of the Star Wars theme known to man/aliens.
Track edited by The Blend Kings from the highly limited Star Wars EP, available for free download very soon.
Before Steady B chose a life of crime and got incarcerated, he repped the growing hip-hop scene in Philadelphia. I really like the use of the “God Made Me Funky” break on this one.
I posted these a while back, but a new site means new plugs, so here we are. These are, obviously, disco mixes, each a half-hour long and full of funky (not electro-cheesy) disco breaks and a whole bunch of blends. I got such a good response from part 1 that I just had to make a part 2 to keep it going. And as summertime driving music, I think these work great. Check ‘em out/download ‘em over at Mixcrate.com:

Once upon a time, MC/DJ duos were the craze in Hip-Hop. Groups like Cash Money & Marvelous, Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Rodney-O & Joe Cooley and Low Profile (Alladin & WC) were everywhere you looked. One of the more esoteric duos but no less talented were Freshco & Miz. Freshco was a NY based MC with world class chops and Miz was another in a long line of great Philly DJs. Check out their single here.
